Stiwt

Erected in 1926 to house the performing arts hall, library and administration offices of the village, the Stiwt as it is affectionately known became the focal point of the local mining community who had raised all the money for its construction. Following years of economic and social change the building was abandoned in 1977 and soon after fell into decay. With the aid of the local charities, European, CADW and National Lottery funding the building has been painstakingly refurbished and extended to incorporate current needs and expectations of the local population.
