Prebendal HouseLlandaffClient: Dean & Chapter As Architects to the Cathedral, TACP were commissioned to extend the Prebendal House which is sited at a lower level and linked to the Cathedral. A phased plan was evolved which, when completed, will form a private and peaceful courtyard development. Phase 1, which accommodates vestries and office, is an extension of the existing structure and acknowledges the Prebendal House vernacular style but in a modern manner. As part of the site is a cemetery, the plan developed so as not to disturb graves less than a 100 years old. Due to difficulties in locating suppliers of stone to match the existing in colour and texture, care was taken to locate the river source from the River Taff, in close proximity to the site and these stones were successfully used to blend in with the existing. |
