The Waterfront, Barry

Phase 1: Landscape Infrastructure

Client: Associated British Ports

Design and implementation of the first phase of landscape infrastructure work within the Barry Waterfront development area. The commission included the landscape design of a major gateway entrance to the redevelopment area either side of Gladstone Road to provide a public park which culminates in a waterfront public open space. The design has included the use of reclaimed stonework from the original railway abutments within the park areas and roundabouts to provide integral features. The commission also included paving, railings retaining structures, seating lighting and planting.

The first phase of the project has been completed and detailed design work is currently being undertaken for a second phase which includes a further dock edge public open space.
