Aztec West, BristolSouth Western Electricity Board HeadquartersClient: South Western Electricity Board In relocating from Bristol City Centre, the South Western Electricity Board required a landscape design of the highest quality to reflect the level of investment in the new building and in relocating to an area where high landscaping standards had already been set. The client's brief required fitting a large complex building within the site, softening major car park areas which were elevated above the building and presenting a quality entrance to the headquarters complex. A variety of texture, colour and spatial definition was achieved by the use of planting, rockscape and hard landscaping surfaces. The Landscape Architects involvement included all public realm features, roof garden and courtyard, together with the design of a mini-golf course which formed an interface with an adjoining lake. Plant selection was undertaken to achieve not only the desired aesthetic effects but also with the view to gain rapid establishment and ultimate low maintenance. |
