Caerleon Signage & Interpretation ProjectClient: Newport County Borough Council TACP were commissioned by Newport County Borough Council to undertake a study of Caerleon regarding the rationalisation of the vehicular and pedestrian signage, the Heritage Trail and further sites of Archaeological interest in and around the town. Working in conjunction with NCBC, CADW, Wales Tourist Board and The National Museums and Galleries of Wales, TACP undertook the design and implementation of a series of pedestrian finger posts, tourist information units and heritage trail markers unique to Caerleon and were further commissioned to design a Town Map and poster to be included within the TIP Units. Following further consultation it was decided that the unseen unexcavated archaeology of Caerleon was an item that required additional interpretation for the general public. Consequently a series of bronze circular reliefs were designed and sited adjacent to key elements of the Roman Fortress and bronze inlay stone slabs laid marking the sites of the four Gateways. |
